There once was a girl that set out on a journey to live her best life, to live a life less ordinary, to live the salty life. She shed her life in Canada, sold her house, sold all her belongings and hopped on a plane to Costa Rica, with the end goal being to buy property and open a yoga and surf retreat somewhere in Central America.
Instead, her physical journey led her to discovering herself and what she wanted in life. Her physical trip ended shortly after it began, and a different journey began. A journey to motherhood. The best journey of all.

To live the salty life means something a little different to me these days. It still means living my passion, living bravely, authentically, vulnerably, stepping outside a life that is comfortable and outside of what is expected, routine or ordinary. It also means doing all this with a toddler in tow. As well as supporting said toddler as a single parent.
And although the definition has changed, the end goal has not. My dream is not dead - I just have discovered a different path to get there. Instead of a beach in Nicaragua, it will be the seaside town of Squamish, BC - also salty, but not so hot.
Since my daughter was born, I've struggled to figure out how I would support us financially AND be able to live a life we love. I want to be around to watch her grow up, not spending those hours commuting to and from a job. Cue the launch of my new venture, a retail food product called Mutha Dukkah, a modern version of a traditional Egyptian seasoning mix called ‘dukkah’ that consists of a nutritious mix of nuts, seeds, herbs and spices. Mutha Dukkah perfectly marries my love of travel, food, and healthy eating. My vision is to use my journey with food to do good in the world. I'm not sure how that part will manifest yet, but for now look for Mutha Dukkah in farmer's markets in September 2018 and retail stores in Canada starting January 2019.
